I am about to enter my senior year of my undergraduate for Mechanical Engineering at the University of Portland, in Oregon. I have lots of experience in a wide variety of engineering software, such as SolidWorks, Matlab, EES, all programs in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and have almost completed courses in Python and Autodesk Fusion 360. In my time studying to become an engineer, I realized that even though I really enjoy the courses I am taking, it would have made the past 3 years much easier if I had exposed myself to engineering software earlier in my life to generate my interest sooner. This is why I hope to inspire younger kids to start early so they can have a better idea and more knowledge of the subjects they may study later on in life. I also hope to show kids just how cool and creative STEM can be when applied to real things such as drones, rather than using math to find out why Joe needed 47 watermelons from the store. 😉
